Failing to submit their financial audit reports for the 2025 calendar year, eight registered political parties will now be served warning notices.
The Election Commission (EC) also received applications from 13 parties seeking more time to file their reports.
At the Election Building on Monday, EC Secretary Akhtar Ahmed said 38 registered parties had submitted their audit reports.
Notices will be issued to the non-compliant parties in accordance with the law, he added.
Akhtar said the commission would decide whether to grant additional time to the 13 parties after reviewing their applications.
Political parties are required to submit audited statements of their annual income and expenditure by Jul 31 each year.
As Jul 31 fell on a weekly holiday this year, they were allowed to file the reports on Aug 2, the first working day of the following week.
The EC has 59 registered political parties, while the registration of the Awami League remains suspended.
Presidential Election
The EC is awaiting the list of members of parliament before moving ahead with the schedule for the presidential election.
Akhtar said the EC had requested the voter list from the Parliament Secretariat but had yet to receive it.
"We will discuss the presidential election schedule after receiving the voter list," he said.
President Mohammed Shahabuddin resigned on Jul 24, citing serious illness.
Under the Constitution, a new president must be elected within 90 days.
Members of parliament form the electoral college for the vote.
Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin has already met Acting Speaker Kayser Kamal, while the EC Secretariat has formally requested the voter list from the Parliament Secretariat.
The list will be sent to the EC after it receives approval from the acting speaker.
Local Govt Polls
Akhtar said preparations were under way to publish the draft voter list for local government elections.
He said people were allowed to register as voters until Jul 31, with the draft voter list due to be published on Aug 9 before being finalised at the end of the month.
The EC has also prepared proposals to amend local government election laws, which will be sent to the Local Government Division after two election commissioners return from abroad.
He said draft codes of conduct for elections to the five tiers of local government would also be sent to the Ministry of Law for vetting.
Asked whether local government elections could be held from October, Akhtar said there is usually a 45-day gap between the announcement of the schedule and polling day.
He added that finalising and printing the voter list takes another month and a half, but stressed that preparations were progressing without delay.
