Activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir and Jatiotabadi Chhatra Dal have clashed repeatedly in Narayanganj, leaving at least five people from both sides injured.

Police brought the situation under control after an hour and a half, separating the two sides during a face-off on Chashara's College Road.

The clash broke out over who would speak at an event at Government Tolaram College on Wednesday around noon, held to mark July Mass Uprising Day, said Md Hasinuzzaman, additional superintendent of police (DB) in Narayanganj.

He said the two sides chased each other repeatedly before engaging in clashes.

According to police, four to five people were injured, though none suffered serious wounds.

The identities of the injured were not immediately available.
