BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has inquired about the health of Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer (chief) Shafiqur Rahman, who is under treatment at United Hospital in Dhaka following heart surgery.
On Sunday morning, BNP joint secretaries general Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie and Habibunnabi Khan Sohel visited the hospital, spoke to doctors and Jamaat leaders, and conveyed Tarique’s concern.
“We came on behalf of our acting chairman to check on the Ameer’s condition,” Annie said.
The BNP delegation also handed over a bouquet on Tarique’s behalf to Jamaat Assistant Secretary General Ahsanul Mahboob Zubair, wishing Shafiqur a speedy recovery.
Shafiqur underwent a successful heart operation on Saturday and is currently in the hospital’s Coronary Care Unit under close medical observation.
He fell ill and collapsed on stage during Jamaat-e-Islami’s national rally at Dhaka's Suhrawardy Udyan on Jul 19. He was later admitted to a private hospital.
