On Mar 5, the 51-year-old Bollywood icon tweeted he has been suffering from a rare disease and requested his fans not to speculate about his sickness or spread rumour. He promised to inform his fans once he is ‘conclusively diagnosed’.

His wife Sutapa Sikdar too, had requested everyone to provide love and strength to Khan.

As promised, the actor tweeted on Mar 17, saying he has been diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumour. He said the diagnosis is difficult but he is drawing strength from love and support of near and dear ones.

“I request everyone to continue sending their wishes. As for the rumours that were floated, NEURO is not always about the brain and Googling is the easiest way to research. To those who waited for my words, I wish to be back with more stories to tell,” he wrote in his tweet.

He informed he is going abroad for better treatment.

An actor famous for his portrayal of versatile roles, Khan recently acted as the protagonist in the Bengali film ‘Doob,’ which many believe is based on the life of famous Bangladeshi writer Humayun Ahmed.
