Export of 60 broad gauge modern passenger coaches to Bangladesh Railway has helped India's RITES company achieve its highest ever annual income of 12.94 billion Indian rupees in 2015-16.

RITES is a public sector undertaking under India's railway ministry and its 2015-16 income is 11 percent higher over the previous fiscal.
Disclosing this at the 42nd RITES Annual General Meeting on Friday, its Chairman Rajeev Mehrotra said that one of the key achievements during the year had been the export of broad gauge modern passenger coaches to Bangladesh Railway.
The 60 Broad Gauge passenger coaches (LHB type) to Bangladesh Railway was done against a contract agreement of 120 coaches.
These modern stainless steel coaches manufactured by Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala, are equipped with Fiat bogies capable of running at maximum speed of 160 kmph.
RITES had earlier supplied 26 Broad Gauge diesel electric locomotives (3100 HP) manufactured by Diesel Locomotive Works, Varanasi to Bangladesh Railway.
RITES had also bagged a contract for the supply of 18 MG diesel electric locomotives to Myanmar Railways.
In India, RITES has recently secured two major turnkey projects from the Ministry of Railways, for the third line in Pendra Road- Anuppur section of Bilaspur division of South East Central Railway and Gooty- Dharmavaram doubling works for South Central Railway.
RITES is also involved in mega transportation projects like dedicated freight corridors, metros, high speed rail studies, logistics parks, rail infrastructure and green energy etc.
“With positive scenario for investments in railways and other infrastructure sectors, the company expects high growth in the coming years,” said Mehrotra.
