Indian authorities have demolished structures outside the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi after finding them beyond the mission’s approved boundary, NDTV reports.
Agencies used a JCB machine to remove structures and barricades along the lane outside the compound on Thursday, including queue-management installations near the visa section.
The external security perimeter was also dismantled, with traffic bollards and barricades removed from around the diplomatic compound.
The action came exactly three days after Pakistani authorities reportedly removed protective security barricades outside the Indian High Commission in Islamabad, according to NDTV.
Visuals from the site showed rubble, broken railings and gates, twisted metal frames and chunks of concrete scattered across the paved area. Corrugated roofing and white metal fencing had also been pulled down, while parts of the service-window facade appeared damaged.
The main entrance, featuring white walls, domed structures and large metal gates bearing Pakistan’s emblem, remained intact. Barbed wire was visible along parts of the perimeter.
The development follows Pakistan’s protest over remarks by US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor, who described Jammu and Kashmir as “an important part of India” during a Srinagar visit.
Pakistan summoned US Charge d’Affaires Natalie Baker over the comments. There was no official word on whether Thursday’s action was linked to the dispute.
