The Jamat-e-Islami-led 11-party alliance has called on the Election Commission (EC) to suspend voting in several polling stations across Cumilla-8, Shariatpur-2, and Patuakhali-1 constituencies over allegations of irregularities.

The alliance made the demand while meeting the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin at the EC headquarters at 3:15pm on Thursday.

Jamaat’s Secretary General Muazzam Hossain Helal later said they submitted video footage to the EC to back their claim.

“Our agents have been removed from 30 polling stations in Barura of Cumilla. We informed local election officials about the matter,” he said.

Muazzam alleged that the returning officer failed to keep his promise, ignoring the call from the party candidate to suspend voting despite written requests.

The alliance also alleged removal of their agents from polling stations in Gopalpur and Bhuapur in Tangail.
