The National Citizen Party (NCP), a partner in the Jamaat-e-Islami-led 11-party alliance, has finalised its candidates for 27 of the 30 parliamentary constituencies allotted under the coalition agreement for the general election.

The party published the list on its Facebook page on Sunday afternoon.

The alliance finalised seat allocations on Thursday, granting the NCP 30 seats.

The party said discussions are ongoing for the remaining three constituencies, and changes to the list may occur if necessary.

Mahbub Alam, head of NCP’s electoral media subcommittee, told bdnews24.com that candidates for the remaining seats would be announced once confirmed.

Among the 27 finalised candidates, Convenor Nahid Islam will run from Dhaka-11. Member Secretary Akhter Hossen is running from Rangpur-4, and Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwary from Dhaka-8, where the BNP’s Mirza Abbas is also contesting.

Sharif Osman bin Hadi, a prospective candidate for Dhaka-8 from the Inquilab Moncho, was shot on Dec 12, a day after the election schedule was announced, and succumbed to his injuries while in treatment in Singapore.

Chief Organiser (north) Sarjis Alam will run from Panchagarh-1, with Senior Joint Coordinator Hannan Masud from Noakhali-6.

Other confirmed candidates include Abdul Ahad (Dinajpur-5), Atik Mujahid (Kurigram-2), Jarsis Kadir (Natore-3), Saif Mostafiz (Sirajganj-6), Shamim Hamidi (Pirojpur-3), Saifullah Haider (Tangail-3), Zahidul Islam (Mymensingh-11), Majedul Islam (Munshiganj-2), Jabed Rasin (Dhaka-9), Ariful Islam Adib (Dhaka-18), Dilshana Parul (Dhaka-19), and Nabila Tasnid (Dhaka-20).

Other finalised candidates include Ali Nasher Khan (Gazipur-2), Sarwar Tushar (Narsingdi-2), Ashraf Mahdi (Brahmanbaria-2), Hasnat Abdullah (Cumilla-4), Sultan Zakaria (Noakhali-2), Mahbub Alam (Lakshmipur-1), Zobairul Hasan Arif (Chattogram-8), SM Suja Uddin (Bandarban), Abdullah Al Amin (Narayanganj-4), and Mohammad Ataullah (Brahmanbaria-3).

The general election and referendum are scheduled for Feb 12. The Election Commission has completed scrutiny and appeal procedures; after withdrawal of nominations, the final list of candidates will be revealed on Jan 20.
