Before the gates to Ekushey Book Fair open

The curtain will rise on the Amar Ekushey Book Fair on Thursday. But on the eve of its opening, the fairgrounds are still echoing with the rhythmic knock of hammers. Workers hurry to finish stalls, stack fresh books, and add the final touches of colour and craft -- as the country’s most cherished literary gathering prepares to welcome readers once again.
