Fishermen casting nets in Dhaka’s Buriganga are finding them packed with suckermouth catfish instead of native species. The invasive fish is choking out other aquatic life and frustrating fishermen. Banned in Bangladesh in 2023, its import, breeding, farming, transport, sale and keeping are prohibited.
