The woes of Hazaribagh tannery persist

Small-scale tanneries and glue-making units are still operating in parts of Dhaka’s Hazaribagh. They use discarded leather scraps to produce glue. Large piles of waste leather have been dumped around these factories, causing severe hardship for nearby residents and pedestrians. The strong stench forces people to cover their noses while passing through the area.
