Friday market in Paltan

More than a hundred makeshift stalls line the stretch from Naya Paltan Jame Mosque to the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) central office in Dhaka, ahead of Friday prayers. Vendors arrive with vegetables, fruits and daily essentials loaded onto vans. Trading continues for two to three hours after Jummah prayers. Many shoppers are used to buying from this weekly pop-up market.
