Betel leaves bloom, but farmers’ hopes wither

At the Jadupar betel leaf market in Chapainawabganj's Baliadanga Union, a pon -- 80 betel leaves -- sells for only Tk 5. Despite a strong harvest this season, farmers are frustrated as prices have fallen sharply.
