Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has ordered the pilot launch of the National e-Health Platform to integrate healthcare information systems.
The decision came at a meeting on integrated information technology in healthcare at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on Saturday, Deputy Press Secretary Hasan Shiplu said.
“Several districts will initially host the pilot to assess the platform’s effectiveness, potential problems, costs and feasibility,” he said.
The prime minister called for a system that makes healthcare easier and delivers tangible benefits to ordinary people, Shiplu said.
“He stressed securely storing patients’ essential health information and ensuring authorised doctors and healthcare institutions can access it when needed,” he added.
Tarique also directed authorities to ensure data security and personal privacy while developing the platform.
“Emphasis must be placed on making it user-friendly, cost-effective and sustainable in the long term,” Shiplu said.
Engineer Zakaria Swapon presented different aspects of the platform at the meeting.
