Government approves Narsingdi Medical College, second since BNP formed government

The decision comes amid a broader push to increase the country’s capacity for training medical professionals

The government has greenlighted the establishment of a new public medical college in Narsingdi.

The institution will be named "Narsingdi Medical College", the health ministry said on Sunday.

It is the second medical college to receive approval since the BNP-led government assumed power.

The government approved another state-run medical college in the northern district of Thakurgaon last month.

The latest move brings the total number of government medical colleges to 39 nationwide.

There are five medical universities in Bangladesh for higher education in medical science.
