3 children with measles symptoms die in Sylhet

Three infants with symptoms of measles have died in a single day at the MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital in Sylhet. So far, the death toll at the hospital has reached nine.

One of the children died around 10am on Friday, while the other two died around 8pm. They were all receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital, according to its Director Brig Gen Umar Rashed Munir.

The dead have been identified as Arif, 10 months, Toufiq, 5 months, and Homayra, nine months.

“Of the children who died at night, Toufiq was a resident of Sunamganj,” Umar said. “He was admitted with measles, bronchopneumonia, and heart failure. A sample has been sent for testing.”

Homayra also died at night, he said.

Arif died around 10am. He had been admitted with symptoms of measles and bronchopneumonia.
