Bangladesh reports three more deaths with measles symptoms in a day

The death toll has risen to 631 since the outbreak began in March

Health authorities have recorded the death of three more people with symptoms related to measles over the past 24 hours.

During this period, 54 people were diagnosed with measles with 980 patients hospitalised with symptoms of the disease.

In its daily bulletin on Tuesday, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said a total of 631 people died due to measles and related symptoms since Mar 15.

According to the DGHS, one child death was reported in each of the Dhaka, Sylhet and Mymensingh divisions as of 8am.

Since mid-March, measles has claimed 92 lives, while another 539 people exhibiting symptoms have also died.

At least 9,833 cases have been confirmed, and 66,170 people with suspected infections have been hospitalised.

Of them, 62,292 have since recovered and been discharged.
