Health ministry puts 69 officials on hospital monitoring duty

The health ministry has assigned 69 officials to inspect government hospitals to improve healthcare quality, administrative discipline and public services.

It issued an office order on Sunday assigning officials to hospitals at division, district and Upazila levels, as well as medical colleges and specialised and general hospitals.

The officials include additional secretaries, joint secretaries, deputy secretaries, senior assistant secretaries and assistant secretaries of the Health Services Division.

Their seven-point duties include monitoring staff attendance, cleanliness, equipment, infrastructure, security and hospital management.

They will also oversee digital attendance of doctors and health workers, vaccination programmes, non-communicable disease prevention and public awareness activities.

The officials will support programmes on maternal and child health, elderly care and nutrition, while encouraging hospitals to adopt effective initiatives to improve services.

Each officer must visit the assigned hospital at least once a month and submit observations and recommendations by the 7th of the following month.
