Bangladesh records three more dengue deaths in a day as toll crosses 400 this year

The total number of patients admitted to hospitals this year reaches 98,705

Bangladesh has reported three more deaths from dengue fever in the past 24 hours, pushing the yearly death toll to 401.

The number of hospitalised patients from the Aedes mosquito-borne disease has also risen, reaching 98,705 after 421 new admissions in the past 24 hours.

A Tuesday bulletin from the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said, of the three dengue fatalities, one was a patient admitted in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and another in the Barishal Division.

As many as 19 people died from dengue in the first nine days of December. Earlier, 104 people died in November, 80 in October, and 76 in September.

Before that, 41 people died in July, 19 in June, three in May, seven in April, three in February and 10 in January.

Hospital admissions from dengue stood at 1,161 in January, 374 in February, 336 in March, 701 in April, 1,773 in May, and 5,951 in June, 10,496 in August, 15,866 in September, 22,520 in October, 24,535 in November, and 4,308 in the first nine days of December.
