Three more children with measles symptoms have died in Bangladesh over a 24-hour period. During this period, 62 new cases of the highly-infectious disease have been confirmed.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) regular bulletin on measles said on Sunday that 93 people have died of confirmed cases of measles across the country since Mar 15.
In addition, 587 people with suspected measles symptoms have also died in that time.
So far, the highest number of deaths with measles symptoms has been in the Dhaka Division with 250.
Meanwhile, 87 have died in Rajshahi, 74 in Sylhet, 49 in Chattogram, 39 in Barishal, 53 in Mymensingh, 27 in Khulna and eight in Rangpur.
The DGHS says that over the latest 24-hour count, 1,078 people have gone to hospitals with measles symptoms and 972 of them have been admitted for treatment.
In Dhaka Division, 443 patients reported symptoms and 393 were admitted.
In Rajshahi, 39 cases were reported with 46 admissions; in Sylhet, 85 cases and 84 admissions; in Barishal, 137 cases and 137 admissions; in Chattogram, 165 cases and 167 admissions; in Mymensingh, 54 cases and 54 admissions; in Khulna, 64 cases and 64 admissions; and in Rangpur, 14 cases with 12 admissions.
A total of 76,859 measles patients have been admitted to hospitals so far, of whom 72,849 have been discharged.
The DGHS said the cumulative number of suspected measles cases in the country stands at 92,790, while confirmed cases total 11,011.
