Photojournalist Muhammad Mostafigur Rahman, head of news photography at bdnews24.com, has won the first prize in the energy category of the “Echoes of the Earth: Photography for the Planet” competition.
The awards were presented at a ceremony on Friday morning at the Kazi Nazrul Islam Auditorium of the National Press Club.
The photography exhibition is jointly organised by “Dhoritry Rokkhay Amra (DHORA) and the Bangladesh Photojournalist Association (BPJA) to raise public awareness on climate risks and environmental protection.
Social Welfare Advisor Sharmeen S Murshid inaugurated the exhibition as chief guest.
In her speech, the advisor highlighted the need for collective commitment to address environmental damage and climate challenges.
DHORA Member Secretary Sharif Jamil said photography can be a powerful tool for raising environmental awareness, often conveying realities more effectively than words.
He stressed the importance of showcasing pollution and environmental damage through visual documentation.
The competition focused on air, water, and soil pollution, as well as energy and the environment.
A total of 1,500 photographs were submitted, with 35 selected for exhibition by the judges.

The two-day exhibition will continue at the National Press Club premises until Saturday, and remains open to visitors from morning to evening.
