Bangaldeshi actor Mehazabien, brother get bail over ‘embezzlement’ charges

The siblings are accused of “embezzling” Tk 2.7 million and making death threats

Actress Mehazabien Chowdhury and her brother Alisan Chowdhury have secured bail after surrendering before a Dhaka court in an “embezzlement” case.

On Sunday evening, they turned themselved in before the Dhaka Executive Magistrate Court-3 judge Afroza Tania.

Their lawyer, Tuhin Hawlader, said the bail petitions were granted after a hearing.

Earlier, the same court had issued arrest warrants for the duo over allegations that they embezzled Tk 2.7 million and issued death after luring in the plaintiff with promises of making him a business partner.

Mehazabien, however, has dismissed the allegations as “baseless”.

In a Facebook post, she said she does not know the individuals who filed the case, and was “astonished” when she learned about it.
