Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon has announced that the government will enact new legislation to curb cheating using digital devices in public examinations.
The minister reaffirmed the government’s "zero-tolerance" stance on malpractice during an exchange of views with education board chairmen and ministry officials on Tuesday, ahead of the SSC and equivalent exams.
A ministry media statement said Milon issued a stern warning to exam centre officials regarding their responsibilities.
"Even if cheating materials are found in examination centre toilets, the centre authorities will be held accountable," the minister said.
He advised screening of students at entry points to ensure nobody entered the premises with materials allowing unfair advantages during the exams.
He also warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone uploading questions or exam-related content to social media or online platforms.
The minister ruled out any future possibility of "auto-passes", a practise occasionally seen during past crises.
He also urged examiners to move away from the tradition of awarding generic marks in practical exams, calling instead for authentic assessment based on actual performance.
The meeting, attended by State Minister Bobby Hajjaj, also touched on long-term structural changes.
Milon revealed plans to establish "Zilla schools" in districts currently lacking them. These institutions will follow an integrated model, covering 1st grade through 12th grade.
