Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon has said four new subjects will be incorporated into the new national curriculum the government plans to introduce from 2028.
Under the proposal, two subjects related to sports and culture will be taught from Class 4. From Class 6, students will study “Technical and Vocational Education” and “Learning with Happiness”.
The new curriculum will also place greater emphasis on third-language learning alongside Bangla and English.
A “major chapter” on the subject may be added to an existing course.
Speaking at a press conference at the Secondary and Higher Education Division at the Secretariat on Monday, Milon outlined different plans for the new curriculum.
He said, “We are first revising the existing curriculum properly and realistically, and will introduce that in 2027. The total change many are expecting has already been set in motion.
“You will see that in 2028, not now. The curriculum is shaping up very well, and four new subjects are being added.”
Earlier, Prime Minister’s Advisor on Education, Primary and Mass Education Mahdi Amin also confirmed plans to include four new subjects.
He said, “The problems accumulated over 16 years cannot be solved in a day or a year. We are committed to making the necessary changes as quickly as possible.”
He added that a substantial chapter on third-language learning would be incorporated into the existing framework, alongside the four new subjects.
