All 382 students from a Narsingdi school who sat this year’s SSC exam have secured GPA-5, prompting questions over whether “irregular tactics” were used to achieve the clean sweep.
The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka sought an explanation from Nasima Kadir Molla High School and Homes over the result.
A show-cause notice was sent to the school's headteacher on Sunday.
The headteacher has been asked to appear before the board within seven working days with documents including admission records, registered ninth-grade student data, test exam participation records and SSC form-fill-up details, to explain the allegations.
The same school posted an identical clean sweep last year, with all 320 candidates in the 2025 SSC exam achieving perfect scores, of whom 317 sat from the science stream and three from business studies.
Asked about this year's results, headteacher Iman Hossain told bdnews24.com: "483 students sat our test exam, but only 382 appeared for the main exam, and all of them scored GPA-5."
When asked why the remaining 101 students could not sit the SSC exam, he said: "Those students failed the test exam, so we couldn't let them fill out the form.
“Per board rules, since they weren't eligible to sit the exam, their forms weren't processed."
A parent of a former student at the school, speaking on condition of anonymity, said: "The test exam questions at this school are set in such a way that only students bound for an A-plus can pass, and everyone else fails."
The parent, however, added: "It has to be said teachers do try hard to help weaker students, with extra classes after school, home visits and whatever else they can manage."
