Approximately 1.86 million students are sitting for their Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations starting on Tuesday.

The exams started at 3,885 examination centres across the country under the nine general education boards, the Technical Education Board, and the Madrasah Education Board at 10am.

Students had to enter their exam centres by 9:30am to take their seats.

The SSC theory exams, which began with the Bangla First Paper, will run until May 20 and take place from 10am to 1pm.

The SSC practical exams will be held from Jun 7-14.

The Dakhil examination will begin with the Quran Majeed and Tajweed examination.

The Dakhil theory exams will continue until May 24, with the practical examinations also scheduled from Jun 7-14.

SSC and Dakhil Vocational students will take their Bangla-2 exams on Tuesday. Their theory exams will end on May 14.

Their practical examinations will be held from May 17-21 and practical training for exam candidates will be held from Jun 1-18.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police have banned anyone other than candidates and people involved with the exams from entering within 200 yards of all exam centres in the capital to ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of the examination.

A total of 1,418,398 students are taking the SSC examination under the nine general education boards, while 304,286 candidates are taking the Dakhil examinations under the Madrasah Education Board, and 134,660 candidates are taking the SSC and Dakhil Vocational examinations under the Technical Education Board.

This is the first time that CCTV cameras will be installed in every room of every centre for the SSC and equivalent examinations.
