The education boards are planning for the Higher Secondary Certificate and equivalent examinations to be held in June, as they were held last year.
The plan to start the exams in the first half of June was discussed at a meeting held at the Secondary and Higher Education Department (SHED) of the Ministry of Education on Monday, said Khandaker Ehsanul Kabir, chairman of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee and chairman of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Dhaka.
He told bdnews24.com this afternoon, "The matter was discussed, but no final decision has been made yet. The potential schedule will be sent to the ministry by the education boards.
"We will be able to state when the exams will start after getting the ministry's approval."
The HSC and equivalent exams started in late June last year. This time, education board chairmen and education ministry officials are hoping for them to be held in early June, said Md Yunus Ali Siddiqui, chairman of the Barishal SHED.
He said, "Although the meeting discussed whether the exams could begin from Jun 7 (Sunday), no final decision has been made yet.
"The education boards will send a draft schedule in the form of a proposal. If it gets the approval of the ministry, the education boards will publish it."
