The results of this year's Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations will not be published on Monday, authorities have said.
They on Saturday attributed the decision to “administrative busyness” at the education boards, saying the results may come out by the end of July.
Prof Syed Akhteruzzaman, president of the Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee, told bdnews24.com, "The education minister had set the target of releasing the results on Jul 20.
“However, due to the current situation, those responsible were busy with urgent administrative tasks and could not give the expected time to prepare the results.”
Prof Akhteruzzaman, also the head of the Dhaka education board, said it will take a few more days to release the results. “But it will not be too late."
He said, "I hope it will be possible to release the results this month."
Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon announced on Jun 8 that the results would be published on Jul 20.
The tests began on Apr 21. The SSC theory examinations ended on May 20, while the Dakhil and Vocational theory exams ended on May 24.
This year, around 1.86 million students registered for the SSC and equivalent examinations.
Of them, 1,418,398 students registered for the SSC examination under the general education boards, 34,286 for the Dakhil examinations under the Madrasah Board, and 134,660 candidates for the vocational examinations under the Technical Education Boards.
It has long been customary to publish the results of public examinations within two months of their conclusion.
