The form fill-up for next year’s SSC examination will begin on Dec 31, following the publication of preliminary exam results by December 30, education boards have said.
According to the Ministry of Education, the SSC preliminary exams will be conducted from Nov 27 to Dec 11, and schools are required to publish results by Dec 30 to enable students to submit forms the following day.
Prof SM Kamal Uddin Haider, convenor of the Inter-Education Board Examination Control Committee and controller of examinations at the Dhaka Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, confirmed that form fill-up under the nine general education boards will begin Dec 31.
“Other boards are sending similar notices to their respective institutions,” he added.
Initially, the education ministry’s academic calendar had scheduled the Class 10 preliminary exams between Oct 16 and Nov 3. However, the ministry revised the schedule on Feb 18, moving the exams to Nov 27-Dec 11, with results due by Dec 30.
The delay was partly due to the introduction of the new curriculum and the late delivery of textbooks to Class 10 students.
The new curriculum, implemented under the Awami League government in 2023, was first fully applied in the ninth grade in 2024 after removing divisions. This move faced criticism from parents, particularly over the removal of subject divisions.
Following nationwide student protests on Aug 5, 2024, the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus announced on Sept 1 that the new curriculum was “not feasible for implementation” and reinstated divisions in Science, Humanities, and Business Education.
Textbooks were revised from the 2012 curriculum and distributed to students, though delays meant some tenth-graders did not receive all books at the start of the academic year. Distribution was completed in early February.
