Education boards have asked to complete the distribution of admit cards to candidates eight days before the secondary school certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations.

Prof SM Kamal Uddin Haider, convenor of the Inter-Education Board Examination Regulatory Committee, told reporters on Wednesday that they issued the instruction as the exams are scheduled to start on Apr 21.

The boards must complete the distributions by Apr 13, he said.

This year, the exams will begin with the first paper (theoretical) of Bangla. The three-hour written tests, starting at 10am, will end on May 20, followed by the practical exams from Jun 7 to 14.

The government will install CCTV cameras in all examination rooms to curb cheating.

Toilets at exam centres will also be searched to prevent fraud.

According to official instructions, two candidates will be allowed to sit on a bench of five or six feet length and only one on a four-foot bench.

There will be one inspector for every 20 examinees, with at least two inspectors assigned to each room.

Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon has been vocal against cheating in public examinations, warning of tougher measures against not only the offenders but the centre authorities.

He also vowed strict legal action against anyone uploading questions or exam-related content to social media or online platforms.

On Mar 3, he announced that the government will enact new legislation to curb cheating using digital devices in public examinations.
