A Bangladeshi man has been killed in a road crash while travelling to work in Los Angeles, one of the largest cities in the United States.
The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Mirza Fahim Ahmed.
The accident occurred around 8am on Wednesday at the intersection of Lassen Street and Reseda Boulevard in the Valley, according to local police.
Fahim moved to the US about one and a half ago with his parents and younger brother.
The family is originally from Dhaka’s Jigatala.
He travelled to Bangladesh during the Eid-ul-Azha holidays and got married before returning to Los Angeles.
After coming back, he applied to the immigration authorities to bring his wife to the US.
He died before the process could be completed.
Citing CCTV footage, Los Angeles police said Fahim's car was struck by two other vehicles, sending it off the road and into a light pole, crushing the front of the car.
Police and fire crews struggled to free Fahim, who was trapped inside, and he died at the scene.
The drivers of the two other vehicles were also injured and have been hospitalised.
Fahim's younger brother Mirza Tamim told bdnews24.com the body would be handed over to the family on Saturday, after which funeral and burial arrangements would be announced.
Tamim said the family had hired a lawyer to pursue justice against those responsible for the crash, while police have also launched an investigation.
