The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has greenlighted the team to visit Pakistan for a T20 series citing clearance from the interim government.

The board will now speak to the cricketers to decide on the tour, it said on Thursday.

The Tigers flew to the United Arab Emirates for a T20 series in two groups on Wednesday. The matches will be held on Saturday and Monday at Sharjah.

According to the itinerary, the team will then fly directly to Pakistan.

The recent military conflict between India and Pakistan put the series in doubt.

BCB Director and chief of Media Committee, Iftekhar Ahmed, said the cricketers “will not be forced” to travel to Pakistan.

“The government approved [on Thursday], moments ago. This is stage one. In the next state, we will discuss it with the cricketers. We can’t force them as it’s a matter of security.

“The government has no issues, but the cricketers may be worried about their well-being. We will give them the freedom to decide.”

According to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the Tigers have been rescheduled to play five 20-over games in Pakistan starting on May 27 after it was initially set to begin on May 25.

Pakistan Super League (PSL), which was suspended due to the Indo-Pak trade of military strikes, is set to resume on Saturday. The final of the domestic T20 tournament will be held on May 25, according to a revised schedule.

The BCB, however, did not confirm its Pakistan counterpart about the new schedule as it was awaiting a government decision. Now the decision hinges upon what the players want.
