Pakistan have called off another scheduled pre-match press conference, this time ahead of their Super Four clash against India in the Asia Cup.
According to the schedule released by the Asian Cricket Council, a Pakistan player or coaching staff member was set to attend a press conference at 6pm local time on Saturday, ESPNcricinfo reported.
The team were also scheduled to train at the ICC Academy in Dubai from 6pm for three hours, but ESPNcricinfo has confirmed that the training session will proceed as planned.
The reason for the press conference cancellation is yet to be disclosed.
This is the second time in as many games that Pakistan have scrapped their customary pre-match media duties, having also declined a press conference before their must-win game against the United Arab Emirates.
This came amid the ongoing handshake controversy with match referee Andy Pycroft. Pycroft has been confirmed as the match referee for Sunday's India-Pakistan game as well, according to ESPNcricinfo.
The dispute with Pycroft was largely resolved after the ICC arranged a meeting with Pakistan's coach, captain, media, and team managers, where Pycroft apologised for the handling of the toss incident.
India also cancelled their press conference on Saturday. As is typical for teams with only a day's gap between games, they held an embargoed press conference after their win against Oman on Friday.
Sunday marks the first Super Four game for both sides.
