The Tigers scored a respectable 259-5 at the end of the first day of play.

Debuting batsman Shadman Islam scored 76 to start the Bangladesh top order off strong, something the team has struggled with in recent matches.

He received some support from Soumya Sarkar (19), Mominul Haque (29) and Mohammad Mithun (29) before he was dismissed by Devendra Bishoo, the most successful of the West Indies bowlers.

Bishoo took two wickets for 53 runs, while Kemar Roach, Shermon Lewis and Roston Chase picked up a wicket each.

Captain Shakib Al Hasan, who has returned from injury for this tour, scored 55* to close out the day’s play.

He was accompanied by Mahmudullah at the crease.

Bangladesh had decided to bat first after winning the toss on Friday.
