The board also dropped Kamrul Islam Rabbi, Mosaddek Hossain and Sabbir Rahman as it announced the new list of cricketers with contracts after a meeting on Wednesday.

Ten players were confirmed on the new list. Three more names to be added in ‘rookies’ category were yet to be finalised.

There were speculations about pay hike for the cricketers, but BCB President Nazmul Hassan said, “Not now. We raised their salaries a few months ago.”

Asked why the number of cricketer on contract was cut, Nazmul appeared surprised: “Is it so?” he asked Jalal Yunus, a director of the board and chairman of its media committee.

Jalal was quick to handle the situation, saying, “Cricket operations and selectors take decision in this regard. It appeared to them that the dropped players’ performance was not so good so as to renew their contract.”

The 10 players on the contract list are Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Tamim Iqbal, Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah, Mominul Haque, Mustafizur Rahman, Rubel Hossain, Taijul Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

The board has not fixed their grades.

Mashrafe, Shakib, Mushfiqur and Tamim were grade A+ cricketers with a monthly salary of Tk 400,000 on the previous list.

Mahmudullah was in grade A with Tk 300,000 monthly salary. Monthly pay for grades B, C and D are Tk 200,000, Tk 150,000 and Tk 100,000 respectively.

Mominul was in grade B, Mustafizur and Rubel in grade C, and Taijul and Miraz in grade D in the previous contract.
