The six-member team inspected the infrastructure of the stadium, security arrangements, pitch and the outfield. It also enquired about the practice facilities and accommodation.

The possibility of matches taking place in this venue now depends on the report of the inspection team. This is the third time ICC representatives have visited the venue.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has said that it will take several more months to ready the stadium for the tournament. It has already floated tenders for the stadium's infrastructural development and renovation of the field.

Chairman of the BCB Media and Communications Committee Jalal Yunus told bdnews24.com, "The ICC representatives will regularly visit before the stadium is completely ready for the World Cup. The stadium's renovation will continue based on their recommendations."

The tournament will be played across Bangladesh from Mar 16 to Apr 6.

The men’s tournament matches will be held at four venues -- Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Fatullah Stadium in Narayanganj, Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong and the Sylhet Divisional Stadium.

The women’s matches will be held at Cox’s Bazar. The BCB is also considering using two fields at the BKSP at Savar as alternative venues.

The ICC inspection team will also visit the other proposed venues.
