As protests continue to intensify over the alleged rape attempt on a female student on campus, the Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JUCSU) has demanded the immediate arrest of the suspect.

Representatives of JUCSU and different hall unions held a press conference on Saturday afternoon, condemning what they described as delays in the investigation and arrest process.

Around 3pm, JUCSU General Secretary Mazharul Islam formally announced a five-point set of demands outside the vice-chancellor’s residence, where demonstrations have continued for hours.

The protesting students said the demands sought urgent intervention from the highest levels of the state to ensure accountability, justice and stronger campus security following the incident.
