Posters of outlawed Chhatra League spotted again on Chattogram University campus

At least 20–30 posters featuring top figures surface across key campus locations

Posters of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League have once again appeared across multiple buildings and locations at Chattogram University.

On Sunday afternoon, at least 20 to 30 posters were spotted near the university’s shuttle train area, Ladies’ Jhupri, Koler Jhupri, the Proctor’s Office, and walls of the Marine Science building.

Similar posters were seen on Apr 27, May 11 and May 17 across different parts of the campus.

Following the political upheaval on Aug 5, 2024, the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus banned the Chhatra League under the Anti-Terrorism Act over allegations of violence during the movement.

The Awami League and its affiliated organisations were also restricted last year.

The latest posters feature images of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Chhatra League President Saddam Hossain, General Secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Enan, and former Chattogram mayor AJM Nasir Uddin.

They carry greetings for new students of the 2025–26 academic session. Shuttle train schedules were also printed on the posters.

Assistant Proctor Prof Md Kamrul Hossain said, “Such activities are difficult while shuttle trains are running. We have alerted security teams and are maintaining close surveillance.”
