Prof Mamun Habib, head of the Department of Management at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), has received the “Supply Chain Management Award” at the 8th IEOM Bangladesh International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management.
The conference was held on Dec 20-21 at the World University of Bangladesh (WUB) and was organised by IEOM Society International, USA.
According to a media statement from IUB, the award recognises Prof Habib’s contributions to supply chain management research, academic leadership, and policy-oriented scholarship.
Prof Habib also chaired a panel session titled “Lean Six Sigma: Driving Sustainable Excellence in Industrial Operations”, focusing on the role of process improvement methods in enhancing efficiency and sustainability in industrial operations.
The panel included Prof Mohammad Faisal Ahammad of the University of Leeds, UK; Mir Sharif Ahammad, executive director and head of commercial (import and export) at Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC; and Prof Selim Ahmed, dean of the Faculty of Business Studies at WUB.
Discussions centred on the application of Lean Six Sigma tools to improve productivity, reduce waste, and support long-term industrial performance.
Prof Habib moderated the session and also served as technical chair of the conference.
