SM Farhad, the general secretary candidate from the Chhatra Shibir-backed panel in the DUCSU elections, has alleged that Jubo Dal and BNP activists have taken up positions at nine locations around Dhaka University, creating a “frightening situation” on campus.

At a press briefing outside the Senate building of Dhaka University around 7:30pm on Tuesday, he claimed to have witnessed “a staged play”.

“It is being alleged that these outsiders are guarding us, but we don’t need protection. Dhaka University students support us. We will accept whatever opinions they give.”

Shibir-backed vice-president candidate Shadik Kayem said, “As the elections were held in a festive atmosphere today, some people are conspiring to sabotage them.

“The university administration must take action against those who want to sabotage the elections.

“We have submitted a written complaint. We will ask the administration to quickly bring those trying to sabotage the elections to justice.”
