Students looking for candidacy in the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election have completed collecting nomination forms, as 658 candidates are set to contest 28 posts.
Chief Returning Officer Prof Md Jasim Uddin shared the figures at a media briefing on Tuesday.
Students collected 93 forms on the closing day, he added.
Of these total forms collected, 106 were submitted on Tuesday. The number of forms sold for hall union polls was not disclosed.
Wednesday was the last day to submit nomination papers, after which the number of candidates contesting for each post will be announced.
The last date for withdrawal is Aug 25, per the schedule, with the final list of candidates to be published on Aug 26.
The election is slated for Sept 9.
“The nomination papers were collected by students of the university, not based on party affiliation,” Jasim said at the briefing.
“If any candidate appears to have a criminal record before the day of the vote, their candidacy may be cancelled,” he added.
