Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) has organised its annual Career and Networking Day on, bringing together more than 60 organisations from a range of sectors to connect with students and explore career opportunities.
The event took place on Wednesday, organised by the university’s Office of Career Guidance, Placement and Alumni Relations (CGP&AR), featuring networking sessions, CV collection, training activities and on-campus interviews.
The opening session at the university’s Multipurpose Hall was attended by Vice-Chancellor Prof M Tamim and Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Daniel W Lund, alongside faculty members and representatives from different industries.
Speaking at the event, Prof Tamim said employers increasingly seek job-ready graduates and stressed the importance of equipping students with practical skills aligned with industry demands.
He also highlighted the growing influence of artificial intelligence and encouraged students to develop critical thinking and innovation skills.
Prof Lund urged students to identify qualities that distinguish them from others and help shape their professional identities.
Among industry speakers, Upay Chief Executive Officer Shyamol B Das encouraged students to embrace technology, while City Bank Head of Human Resources Nishat Anwar stressed the importance of preparing early for future career challenges.
Participating organisations represented sectors including banking and financial services, FMCG, pharmaceuticals, ICT, consulting and NGOs.
Several companies conducted walk-in interviews and skill development sessions at the event.
Financial institutions including City Bank, bKash, Prime Bank, IDLC, Nagad, and Upay took part in the event, while FMCG and pharmaceutical companies such as Kazi Farms, ACI, Square Food & Beverages, Renata, and ACME Laboratories also participated.
CGP&AR Director Mohammad Manjurul Haque Khan said the annual initiative reflects IUB’s efforts to strengthen links between academic learning and industry requirements.
City Bank and Nagad supported the event as co-sponsors, while Fresh joined as beverage partner.
