Dhaka University has appointed Prof Mohammed Almujaddade Alfasane of the botany department as the institution’s pro-vice chancellor (administration).
The Ministry of Education named him to the post on Thursday.
According to the ministry, the appointment was approved by the president, who also serves as the university chancellor, under Article 13(1) of the Dhaka University Order, 1973.
The order lists several conditions:
• His term as pro-vice chancellor will last for 4 (four) years from the date of joining;
• He will receive pay and allowances equivalent to his current position;
• He will enjoy other position-related benefits as per the rules and must reside on the university campus at all times;
• He will exercise powers and perform duties as defined by the university’s statutes and laws, as well as those assigned by the vice-chancellor; and
• The president and chancellor may revoke this appointment at any time if necessary
