Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) has welcomed around 1,000 newly admitted undergraduate students through its Spring 2026 orientation.
The event was held on Jan 15 at the IUB Auditorium and organised by the Office of Admissions, Financial Aid and International Relations.
According to a university media statement, 55 percent of the new students are male and 45 percent female.
About 66 percent are from Dhaka, while the remaining 34 percent come from districts outside the capital.
IUB Vice-Chancellor Prof M Tamim, Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Daniel W Lund, Registrar Asif Parvez, and Director of Admissions, Financial Aid and International Relations Lima Choudhury addressed the inaugural session.
The session also included the recognition of merit scholars who achieved top scores in the admission test.
In the second session, a video presentation introduced student to clubs, extracurricular activities, academic and general support services available at the university.
The event was moderated by Priyanka Dey, deputy director of the Admissions Office, and concluded with performances by the IUB Music Club and IUB Dance Club.
