The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) has welcomed its new cohort of students at its Freshers' Orientation for Fall 2026, with a programme featuring messages from university leaders, career insights and cultural performances.
The orientation began on Thursday with the ULAB Theme Song, performed by the ULAB Sangskriti Sangsad, setting a celebratory tone for the event.
Mitchel Lee, chargé d'affaires of the Singapore High Commission in Dhaka, attended as the chief guest.
Congratulating the newly admitted students, he encouraged them to make the most of university life by learning beyond the classroom, developing critical thinking, embracing diversity and preparing to contribute meaningfully to society.
ULAB Vice Chancellor Prof Shamsad Mortuza, welcomed the freshers and urged them to remain curious, responsible, creative and engaged throughout their academic journey.
He emphasised that university life is about more than earning a degree, highlighting the importance of developing knowledge, skills, values and social responsibility.
A special segment of the programme featured the introduction and distribution of seed boxes, led by Prof Mortuza.
Each new student received a box containing Bakula flower seeds as a symbol of personal growth and transformation during their university journey.
Students will be able to share their growth stories as they nurture the seeds and watch the plants grow through a dedicated page on ULAB's website.
Representing the new students, Marvia Fatema Bhumi shared her reflections and aspirations as she began her journey at ULAB.
The programme also featured an experience-sharing session by ULAB alumna Sekh Shahnuma Sharmin, Manager, Brand Strategy & Digital at BYD Bangladesh. She spoke about university life, professional skills development and preparing for future career opportunities.
The orientation was attended by ULAB Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Jude WR Genilo; Prof Milan Kumar Bhattacharjee, special advisor to the Board of Trustees and Treasurer; Registrar Md Foyzul Islam; deans, faculty members, officials, alumni and a large number of newly admitted students.
The programme concluded with a band performance by Emon Chowdhury & Bengal Symphony, presented by Coke Studio Bangla.
