Hasanul A Hasan and Ishtiaque Abedin, both founder members of the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB), have been appointed as the chairman and vice chairman of the university's Board of Trustees, respectively.
The appointments were formalised during the 202nd meeting of the Board of Trustees held on Sept 9.
The university said in a media statement that both Hasanul and Ishtiaque have played central roles as founder members in steering the institution’s overall development.
Their contributions span advancing the quality of education and research, alongside implementing long-term strategic frameworks for the university.
Hasanul, a prominent educationist and industrialist, currently serves as the Chairman of Chemlube Ltd -- the sole distributor of MAK Lubricants in Bangladesh.
In addition to his academic governance role, he is the managing director of American Dairy Ltd (ADL) and chairman of Subaru Bangladesh Ltd.
Ishtiaque also brings extensive experience across corporate and educational sectors.
He currently serves as the secretary general of the Association of Private Universities of Bangladesh (APUB), actively participating in national higher education policy and advancement. In business, he holds the post of chairman at American Dairy Ltd and serves as managing director for Chemlube Ltd, Shanzaib Ltd, and Shanzaib Food & Beverage Ltd.
Following the announcement, members of the AIUB Board of Trustees, alongside faculty members, administrative staff, employees, and the broader university community, extended their warm congratulations and best wishes to both leaders as they assume their updated governance responsibilities.
