Didar A Husain, a founding trustee of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), has been re-elected chairman of the university’s Board of Trustees for a two-year term covering 2026-27.
He previously served as chairman during the 2024-25 term.
IUB’s founding trust, the Education, Science, Technology and Cultural Development Trust (ESTCDT), announced the election and formation of the Board of Trustees for the 2026-27 term on Dec 23, 2025.
Husain joined the Liberation War while he was a student at the University of Dhaka and was commissioned as an officer in the first War Course of the Bangladesh Army on Oct 9, 1971. He served with the 10 East Bengal Regiment.
The Liberation War Museum documents his role and that of his colleagues in the Belonia sector.
He left the Army with the rank of major in 1981 and later entered the textile sector, serving as a vice president of the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association during 2005-06.
Husain is currently the chairman of Rahim Textile Mills Limited. He is also the managing director of PCS Bangladesh Private Limited and the chairman of Cannon Pest Management Bangladesh Private Limited.
He is also a member of the national council of the Diabetic Association of Bangladesh (BADAS).
