Dhaka University cancels former Chhatra League leader Rabbani’s MPhil studentship, DUCSU seat

The proctor says the decision was based on findings relating to multiple allegations against him

Dhaka University administration has struck former Bangladesh Chhatra League general secretary Golam Rabbani off the MPhil roll, while also annulling his position as general secretary of the central students’ union (DUCSU).

He was elected as DUCSU general secretary in 2019.

Proctor Associate Prof Saifuddin Ahmed said the decision came at a meeting of the Academic Council on Wednesday.

He said multiple allegations were lodged against Rabbani, prompting the Syndicate to launch an inquiry.

“The investigation proved the allegations. Therefore, following the Syndicate’s recommendation, the Academic Council decided to cancel his studentship,” he said.
