The Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology Textile Alumni Association (AUSTTAA) has launched "Campus to Career – Beyond the Classroom" on Aug 1, a one-day workshop designed to get textile engineering graduates industry-ready for Bangladesh's textile and readymade garments sector.
Held at the MH Khan Auditorium on the AUST campus, the programme aims to equip students with practical industry knowledge, business understanding, and career-ready skills needed to succeed in the competitive global apparel industry.
It was backed by Tex Hue Limited as title sponsor and FCL as co-sponsor, with Apparel Times BD (ATBD) as industry knowledge partner.
Vice-Chancellor Md Ashraful Hoque, the chief guest, urged students to build professionalism and adaptability to thrive in the fast-moving global apparel industry, praising AUSTTAA for preparing students to meet real industry challenges.
Faizur Rahman, head of the Department of Textile Engineering, also lauded the association's push to boost industry readiness among students.
AUSTTAA General Secretary Manjur Morshed Al Azim, also managing director of Tex Hue and ABMOR Ltd, said the association's vision is to send every alumnus into the job market fully prepared to lead.
Unlike a typical seminar, the workshop focused on how the industry actually works, covering the RMG supply chain, core textile processes, merchandising, sourcing, commercial operations, and career prep, led by a panel of industry professionals and AUST alumni.
Farhaduzzaman Nayan, vice president of the AUST Textile Society, said the interactive format made the day feel more like a masterclass than a lecture.
The programme wrapped up with a certificate distribution ceremony.
AUSTTAA plans to make Campus to Career a recurring initiative, partnering with universities, alumni, brands, and manufacturers to groom Bangladesh's next generation of apparel leaders.
