Dhaka University suspends Monday's exams over flooding, classes remain on schedule

The suspension does not apply to exams at the university's affiliated colleges and institutes

Dhaka University has suspended all exams scheduled for Monday after heavy rain left parts of the campus waterlogged.

Classes, however, will continue as usual.

The university cited severe weather as the reason for the decision in a special notice issued on Sunday night by Acting Controller of Examinations Himadri Shekhar Chakraborty.

The suspension does not apply to affiliated colleges and institutes, whose exams will proceed as scheduled.

Fresh dates for the postponed exams will be announced later based on proposals from the respective departments and institutes.

Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration) Prof Mohammed Almujaddade Alfasane told bdnews24.com power outages at Bangamata Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall and Bangladesh-Kuwait Maitree Hall prompted the move.

Waterlogging has affected several areas of the campus since Saturday night's downpour, leaving students stranded in Kuwait Maitree, Bangamata Fazilatunnesa Mujib and Shahidullah halls.
